Klinsmann was being ridiculed in Germany at Bayern for using American-style coaching techniques, such as American-based fitness training, American-style motivational speakers, and zen methods a la Phil Jackson. The Germans called him an ldiot who had been overly influenced by sissy American sports and their training techniques (Klinsmann's wife is American and they had been living in California).
His job at Bayern was short-lived, but I think he was treated unfairly there. Bayern is a very arrogant club and their fans are even worse. If you don't win every game, they will fire you. Also, at the time Klinsmann was at Bayern, they had very few outstanding players, so Klinsmann had to work with what he had. Right after he was fired, they went on a shopping spree and purchased several world-class players, so of course that improved the overall performance of the team after Klinsmann was gone.
